Our Sunday Afternoon

Today just plain out sucked. I half wished we could have a do over but since Time travel is not real I will have to deal with MOVE ON Travel.

This morning my sweet little boy woke around 5 am where he graciously came in to sleep with mom. We have it down now. I move my pillow over and Ty gets the middle, I turn my back on his so he won't stay awake and I PRAYER he goes back to sleep. It didn't happen but he nicely and very cutely gave me a BIG kiss after kicking my privates a dozen times with his spastic toes and me getting more and more angry with each muscle tormenting kick.

After the big kiss he signed food, and smacked another one on my! Gave in and took him downstairs. Made him french toast sticks and sat him on a towel to not lose the integrity of my carpet and because I was to asleep to make him "dip" at the table.

I was allowed to lay down for about half a hour before we got ready for church. Which was the same time that Dallas informed me his throat was on fire and he was not feeling well.

GREAT! Not to be the germ people at church but WE are not them. We stay home at signs of sickness. instead, I worked at picking you the house and hanging up clothes and doing laundry. The same stuff I do every day while also trying to keep Tyler entertained.

Finally right before noon Ty wants to go outside. Which I think THANK YOU LORD! He wants to do something. I wake up Dallas who has been asleep for awhile in hopes that by having him GET UP he will sleep tonight . So he went out and sat with us on the steps. I brought in a few boxes and came back out to find Ty and Dallas.... doing this......
, utah

Dallas took Ty off the cement to try out his grass legs and we got this :
<span class=
The new stash of rocks is from our Neighbors yard and school. We were lacking in the rock department so I didn't think anyone would notice. So we stocked up!

<span class=
Dallas went in to lay down after not feeling so hot and Tyler got more and more daring. He went and found himself a BIRD. It was a nice bird that liked to eat ROCKS.. It didn't make any sound and it almost got tipped over!
<span class=I
Ty and this bird were all talk and all serious!
<span class=

And in the talk I am pretty sure Rock bird said he was Hungry!
<span class=
We spent the rest of the day in an out and blowing bubbles and eating pizza and being chased by a vacuum. I would have liked the day of rest at the church but tomorrow is another day a new beginning.

Ty doesn't have school on Monday so we are thinking of doing a mom activity if anyone wants to join us. Something small like the park, or library story hour ( the kids library here has 2 hours tomorrow) or the pool in the afternoon. Maybe a trip to the farm at thanksgiving point or even cabellas and the fish or the aquarium. We have lots of Mondays to see how it will all go. Anyone game?

A little bit of fun stuff

So an update is in order for the Brown household. I haven't really been a fabulous blogger this week but I have at least updated.

Ty has been back to his normal self the last week or so. He has been so much fun and yet he makes me so tired. I love it. He has done a great job in all of his Therapies. They have decided to increase his OT again so he will be doing 30 minutes and increasing to 40 minutes and then he will be overlapping for 15 minutes with his PT. Then alone with his PT for 30 minutes. It really wears him out but he is doing really well with both.

He is still working with the Speech Therapist and we hope to see some more improvement. He is really picking up the signs and is getting really good at getting his point across. We are very proud but are still looking for the on switch with the talking.

On Wednesday I was getting Ty ready for school and we went outside to play before the bus got there. If that kid could spend all day out he would. We had his pumpkin from Halloween out as a bucket for rocks and he went to town. We played for a few minutes and I got a million photos.

Then we heard the bus. He turns around to look and puts his hand to his ear when I asked if he could hear it. To cute.

We walked over to the bus and he happily got on so I got pictures of a happy Tyler on the bus instead of the sad ones we had in September. He is getting so big.

Friday I went into Queen Creek for Doctor appointments and decided to drop into the school to see how Ty is doing. They are working really hard to get him to use his vision and maximize his ability. I am very happy with what they are doing with him. I have a few concerns that I will be addressing in the next few months.

Friday night Dallas and I were able to go out on a very nice date. We went out to dinner at one of our favorite restaurants at San Tan Village. The Keg is a great steakhouse. We love it. I had prime rib and Dallas had a steak and we try to share. Then we ran over to the movies. Because it took so long at the restaurant we had to sit in the front row.

I wont ruin the movie but the ending sucked.

Today we spent part of the afternoon outside. Ty played in the dirt, I painted, and Dallas worked on his laptop. It was awesome weather and we were able to spend the time together. ( Oh and I got some pictures then to...)
Don't worry, the photos aren't really blurry. That is dirt.. yep Dirt. He kept throwing it up and letting it land on him. He was filthily.

Overall it was a great day. If only the boys will sleep tonight. With Dallas being up most of the week with his insomnia I have had the privilege of sharing my bed with a three year old that wants to touch mommy all night. Guess what.. I want my own bed.

So here is to a day of fun tomorrow.

Is it really only Tuesday?

This weekend was so nice. Me and Dallas went on a date on Friday and had such a good time. I thought " wow, what a great way to start the weekend and the week!" Dallas got his Christmas present on Friday night and we were looking for a cord. We walked around San Tan Mall and did a little window shopping/ clothes shopping. We had Dinner at a nice little brewery/ sports bar place. Ty was so good and loved all the Christmas lights. We got a Christmas tree and the house was clean. At the end of Saturday I really was looking forward to the week.

Sunday I worked and I got home in time to put my sweet baby to sleep. I got his meds and he really fought me. That is so not normal for him. I got him to take a little bit and went in and held him for a bit and cuddle cause I didn't see him for a while. Put him in bed and about 2 hours later he was crying.

Since we put him in a toddler bed and he can get out him crying is a weird occurrence. Usually he just gets out of bed and comes in with us. But that night he cried. I went in their picked him up and he threw up. All over me. I noticed he had a fever but wasn't sure what it was.

We gave him a bath and put him back to bed. An hour or so later he screamed again. He had thrown up in bed and was all dirty. I undressed him and put him in with me and we had a pretty rough night of it. He was up every 30 minutes crying and although we had no more puking it was pretty exhausting. We had the screen saver/ tv on so that it acted as a night light and around 4 he decided he was all done sleeping and he wanted a movie. I put one in because of total desperation for some sleep. Finally at six I asked Dallas to take over for me and I got a few hours of sleep. I was so tired all day.

He was pretty good most of the day and we had no more puking episodes but he was really whiny. Because he didn't feel good I made him take a nap and he woke up CRABBY and whiny. I have no idea what his deal was.

We got in the shower and he perked up. But he was a perfect kid for his dad so I hope it is on the upswing and we are good for tomorrow.

I worked and am not feeling the top of the line either. Like I am getting a bladder infection or something and I am super dehydrated. I am tired to.

Tomorrow ( Tuesday) Tyler has his hearing test at the special ENT that does just hearing and no tonsils and stuff.

Wednesday I have to remember to call for Jury duty and Thursday is Thanksgiving. Friday is black Friday and there is ONE item on our secret blitz I want but am waiting to see if it is worth it to get up early and then spend all day at Jury duty. Not sure if I can stay awake all day!

So that is our week... in a Nutshell.

Please pray for Tyler that he feels better and it is just a bug and nothing more. It scares me to death that he doesn't come with a flashing sign when it is something bigger. I never know when to over react or stay cool... I hate shunts!

The weekend

My weekend seemed to start way early. I had a wonderful birthday week and loved all the cards and the well wishes.

Friday afternoon I had dinner with me new bestest friend in Arizona at a place called Oreganos. It was pretty yummy and the cookie/ice cream pizza was fabulous. I also had the day off from being "mom" and spent it at lunch, lounging, making phone calls and napping. ( and also missing Bubba). Later that night Dallas was the "caregiver" of the bunch and took care of Tyler while I went on a girls night out with my friends. Holy crap what a RIOT!! We had so much fun. I laughed so freaking hard and had a wonderful time. I think we will be doing it again on the next birthday.

Saturday I tried so hard to let Dallas sleep in but he was having a insomnia night. We both decided that we needed to pick up and clean the front yard. So we fixed Ty a sandwich, put on shoes and we went out and cleaned up the yard. Ty had a blast throwing rocks, pulling weeds and helping us put the trash away. He was so freaking cute. ( and don't worry, that bucket .. was picked up later but that is Tornado Tyler for ya!!)

We cleaned the house from top to bottom, vacuumed and cleaned some toilets and headed off to dinner. I left and headed to work for the evening and Dallas took Ty home.

Sunday was a pretty laid back and calm day. I had to work this morning ( which I hate working on sunday's) but I starte the day off listening to my MoTab and some church music and came home to spend the rest of the night with the boys.

I just wanted to add one or two thoughts. I am so thankful for the oppourtunity to raise Tyler and to have Dallas in my life. Both of which I am forever greatful. I can't imagine my live with out them or with it any different. I know that I have bad days and good days and sometimes life gets hard. But I love them both very much.

Anyway, that is us!!

The "lights" of the week

The Lights of the week were good and bad. Kind of mundane to but a few were really fun.

We had no therapy this week. That is always a kind of vacation for us. On any given week we have 3 in home and 1 out of home. All canceled this week so Ty got a vacation and so did mom.

Thursday was our busy day.

After a month of reschuduling I decided to bite the bullet and just go. (Ashley, I know you read my blog but the dentist isn't near as cool as he was when I was little. Oh I miss the days where every person who stuck their fingers in my mouth I had known FOREVER!!) We have been seeing the dentist for almost a year. As background.. He was a late teether. When he did get teeth they were strange and "not right." Some of them missing corners, some where yellow. After we moved here we took him to the dentist and have been seeing him every six months since.

We got in to see the dentist amazingly fast. I have NEVER been to a dentist that got me in that fast. We had our appointment at 1:30 and were done by 2. He took Ty's tooth brush and went to town. Ty, in true Ty fashion, screamed and screamed and then taking after his mom starts gagging. Because we happen to need a big old dose of antibiotics I didn't want to wear it so I got him to sit up. The dentist then dove right back in.

The Verdict.... Tyler needs caps. Thanks to life saving TPN we now have rotten teeth. Thanks to life saving measures he has yucky teeth. Thank goodness for socially thinking docs they come in White and no one will know.

The down part.. Sedation. Ty will have to go to a surgical center to get his dental work done. In order to do that we have to have a physical and his well "baby" ( haha) exam and in Arizona they won't give the three year old shots a day or second before they turn three. Not to mention we are booked out 3 weeks for well child exams. I lied and told them I wanted a sick kid exam then. I want this done before we start school.

After the Dentist Ty and I were invited to swim with some ladies in the ward. My new friend Mallory and Ty's new friend Kayden share the same therapists and will be going to preschool this fall were there and we had a blast. Sometimes it is nice to have someone who gets it around. We swam for several hours and came home to Dallas wanting to take Ty with him to the at&t store before our sitter was able to come.

Dallas got his new Iphone this morning and we have had a great afternoon together. Including a wonderful and yummy in my tummy steak at texas roadhouse. I think in a few weeks I will be taking Dallas to a yummy brazilian resturant... he deserves it.

I am so done this week... I have a headache and am so done with people this week. I guess here is to a new week... and less blah!!

The week.

Yes there were frequent updates and that is good. Why is that good? I hate that all you people who I read don't update but once a week. So start typing so I can stalk and read you.

My most interesting stuff happened at the end of the week. However, I LOVE getting packages ( Hint to anyone who wants to send me stuff!!) and have now become a frequent stop by all of the mail carriers in the area. I have received packages this week from EBay, Overstock, some random electronic place ( yeah not mine) and another from amazon. So yep we are friends with them all. To bad they doorbell ditch!!

So what did I get? Amazon I ordered a few new books. I have enjoyed a series from a lady named Beverly Lewis. She writes about an Amish community and I am on the last of a 3 part series. I really like them

Got one from Jodi Picoult and can't wait ti try it. And of course a Baby Einstein. It is a puzzle shape book. And I have currently found the triangle and square in the kitchen. Not where it is suppose to be.

EBAY!! I love that thing. Now, you can't laugh at my purchase. ( Well you can but be nice) I won a auction for the re-release of .......... Richard Simmons "Sweating to the Oldies." 20 year anniversary on DVD. Why you ask... I needed a workout video that I can do with Ty. I need to start moving so I can have a lower risk of early delivery ( when I decide to have a baby.. I mean WE decide to have a baby) Man it brings back memories... Miss Barnes !!!!!

Overstock brought me my bed set. Love it. Better than I thought it would be. The bed skirt was a queen and not a king so they are sending me a new one. But everything else is great and I love it.

The rest of the stuff was Dallas' and I am sure he enjoyed every bit of it.

The rest of week was kinda blah till Friday. Friday was SOOOO funny.

Dallas has a issue with is neck. A bulging disc or something like that. You can read about it on his blog and what they do for it. Anyway he had another procedure done to help it feel better. He has done this before and this time was a little different. It early early. (For those that don't know us or him we do NOT do early early. ) He was way more out of it. They came to get me to try and get him to wake up. The started asking him questions. Random ones and he would try to answer and then fall asleep. It was so funny to watch.

As they sat there they asked me to help him get dressed. He had on a hospital gown and I went to untie it in the back. Got it off and started to help him take it off. He grabbed my arm and said "ok baby, now it is your turn to take something off!" I snickered and you could hear giggles from behind the sound proof curtain. He then put his hand on my cheek and said "I love you baby" he was so "not" Dallas. It was SOOOOO funny .

As they started asking him questions again they asked him how big his baby was. He said 1.5 oz. I corrected him and he looked at me kinda sternly and said " I guess it depends on who you ask"

He was so funny. He told me he wanted toast for breakfast but couldn't stay awake long enough. He finally got enough sleep to function and was back to Dallas. He was so funny.

I also was able to clean the kitchen from top to bottom, the front room from ceiling to floor and part of the outside with Dallas. Ty spent the day in and out and LOVED it. We had to take a shopping trip to walmart where I was able to get Ty's glasses fixed and get new pillows for the bed and off course groceries. Ty loves the store. Every cashier comes out to see him and the bakery and deli people always gives him cookies. He wore his glasses so he was nice and perky and looking all over.

Today I worked and Dallas was so kind to let me sleep in. It was so nice of him. Ty decided to be super clumsy and fell a lot today and got owies ( or BOO BOO's) but took them in stride. Dallas and Ty surprised me at work and Ty wanted to get down. I set him down by a register and he WALKED over to the soda case and opened it. I was so excited to see him walk that he got a soda!!

Anyway.. that is the story of us this week. If you made it to the end I hope you laughed like we did. Good night and hope you all have a wonderful week!!

Random week with photos!

I have no idea what Grandma did to my baby but he has slept so well ( till tonight) and pretty much through the night. He has done better on the days he has had no nap and he wakes around 7 am. A huge cry from the 5 am!

Today he was so whiny by the end of the afternoon that I had him take his milk and blanket and lay with me on the floor. I was hoping it would just let him relax so he could get up and play. NOPE!! He fell asleep. As soon as he got his milk to his lips he pulled his blankie up and he was OUT!

Life is almost back to "normal." We have our last 2 therapies tomorrow ( our eye therapist and our speech therapist.) And this afternoon we have a delivery happening. Dallas and I purchased a new bed. We are so excited. I got one right before I was married from my parents but we are in need of a better one. That one has been great but we need a king sized and a pillow top. I was amazed at how expensive they were. I felt so blessed to not have to put it on credit. And I am even more excited to come home from work tomorrow and sleep in it!

Overall we have had a pretty slow week. Ty is as happy as ever. He is eating much better than he was on vacation. He is VERY opinionated lately and we have had to do JUST WHAT HE WANTS or there is no doing. He won't even eat if he hasn't chosen it to eat.

I promised a few weeks ago some photos of Ty, toilet paper and fun... so I am finally able to do it! Enjoy

This was the sweetest thing from the weekend. Lexi came up with Aunt Nicky to visit with Tyler. She wanted to help him walk so bad. She was so sweet. So she helped him walk to his walker so that he could walk. She also chased him and made him laugh so hard. She is the sweetest thing ever!

Ty was watching Tv on the Love sac at grandpa's. He thought he was a big boy! And the last one was another Horrible picture of me and a wonderful photo of Dallas.

Poison control... and other sad tales.

Oh what a weekend!! I will need another day off just to recover. Guess you could say we are in for a long ride with Ty and his antics.

Friday Dallas had the day off so I stayed at work till about 5:30 am. Got in a few extra hours for the holidays. It was nice to be able to sleep and feel rested. I got up and sent Dallas out for some alone time. TRUST ME ... with Ty you need to get out and hear nothing for just a few minutes. When he got back we went grocery shopping. That in itself is a chore.

The night ended pretty uneventful. Bed was welcoming and inviting so off I went into dreamland. Waking up at about 3 not feeling well. I was sick to my stomach and Ty was crying. I went and got him back to sleep. He slept in( which RARELY happens.) and from the time he got up the room was spinning. I feed him breakfast and fell fast asleep on the floor. I woke up and went back into bed.

I had to take the day off to try and feel better and so I slept most of the day. While I was in the front room Ty started screaming. I ran into the room to find him gagging and trying to throw up. I looked around and there were Germicidal wipes from the NICU on the floor and one in his hand. He had gotten into the bucket and sucked on them. I of course freak out. Knowing that it kills EVERYTHING was imagining all these horrible thoughts of Ty getting super sick and a stay at PCH. Got him calmed down and called Poison control.

They said the ingredients in it would irriate his tummy and his throat and maybe leave a rash in his mouth but to try and get him to drink something. We gave him milk and juice and then something to eat. He had a restless night but finally settled and and seems fine this morning.

So for the other sad tales. During the night Dallas cooked a wonderful meal while I emptied the dishwasher. The night before a plate had broken in the washer so I was trying to fish out the pieces. Low and behold a piece pierced my finger and cut it open. It is a nice long deep cut in the worst possible place to heal or stayed closed.

Oh and to make matters worse. Whenever I go to sleep before D he has to wear ear plugs. How sad is that? Ok he does it becuase I have a weird breathing thing I do at night that makes it hard for him to sleep. He sure looks cute wearing his ear plugs...

Weekends go by way to fast!!!

I can't believe the weekend is almost over. I LOVE having Dallas home. LOVE it!! It has been one C-R-A-Z-Y week and I was oh so looking forward to the weekend.

So the week in review:

Monday we had our neurologist appointment that went SUPER SUPER well. He gave us some new meds to try with Ty. They suck. So I am calling on Monday to get something else till we can get in for the testing we need to do.

Tuesday was my day off from work so I am glad that we didn't have anything planned and Ty and I were able to take a nice nap. He seems to do great when I sleep with him. To bad there isn't a bed big enough to make that happen.

Wednesday was another big day for us. We had a eye followup with Dr.S and he did great. Ty screams when a doc gets anywhere near him now so he happened to freak out when I had to hold his arms down and make him open his eyes. But Ty is doing better and is wearing his glasses for longer periods of time.

After his eye exam we went to our first PT appointment. We are trying to help Tyler learn that he needs to participate with someone other than his mom. He is so clingy and so a mommy's boy that it is getting a bit out of hand. So we decided to do clinic based therapy. He of course screamed through most of this and didn't show the poor PT that he could do half the stuff he can do. So I get the look of " gee mom you were feed a large piece of crap and you ate it. We don't believe a word you say" look. I know all you moms with "special" kids get it. So I am hoping in the weeks to come he participates better.

Immediatly following our appoitment with PT we were on our way to get his braces checked and fixed. He won't wear them at night so we are having to find other ways for him to wear them. He wears them outside and we practice walking up and down the sidewalk. We have also taken him to walmart where he walks the cart. We take forever and I am sure all the people who are there hate us because we are slow but I don't care much.

We did stop at Burger King and have a burger and all the power went out so we were sitting in the dark and the smoke. Smoke because the grill didn't have a fan to let it go out. After eating we drove to Scottsdale before hitting Pheonix. We wanted to see D and give him a hug. I LOVE visiting him. We also met all his co workers and had a great time.

Thursday was our interventionist from the Foundation for blind children. I LOVE this lady. Her name is Marta. She tries so hard to get Ty to do stuff with her and not with me. Ty is getting much better about it and he always gives her a hug at the end of the session. She is also there at the foundation on Mondays for our play group when we are able to make it.

Friday was my day off and me and Ty were the laziest mom and kid in the world. We hung out in our jammies watching barney and baby Einstein all day and reading books. We showered and stuff after daddy got home and smelled how stinky we were :)

I had Friday off and Dallas made me a great dinner that we ate together after Ty got in bed. I love spending time with D. This time next week we will be waiting for my mom and dad to be here. SO EXCITED!!

Saturday was my day to get up with Ty. I was sure hoping he would sleep in and well.. my wish was shattered when the poor kid was up by about 5. Poor kid. He did spend the day playing though. We woke up from our nap to find our dad missing. He had made an excursion to Home depot and was outside being man domestic and put in a few plants ( that I killed... you still have to water them apparently) and some wonderful looking lights. I just hope our stick tree isn't really dead. We went to dinner and I headed into work. I am not LOVING work after ten pm. So Any prayers and well wishes would be much appreciated.

So tommorow we are attending our new ward. And we are going to spend the whole day enjoying each other. I sure hope the week goes by fast.

The most exciting news of the last several weeks....... WE FINALLY GOT LONG TERM CARE for Tyler. For those who read this from Utah. It is basically DSPD but no waiting list. We will be getting respite care and other services to better help with Tyler. It also means we won't be having to pay extra for anything medical. His meds will be paid and all copays will be paid. Saves a little each month...and well Respite is gonna rock .

So that is our week. Stay tuned for Ty's mohawk
