20 weeks- Anatomy

Today was a great appointment. I tend to get a little over nervous about everything and today was no exception. It was nice and early so we didn't need a sitter for Tyler because he was at school. Yesterday on the way to the store he got super sick and puked all over the nice clean car. It was a LONG night for all of us but he felt fine this morning and went to school.

We went to our perinatologist and got right in. I think we must have been close to the first people. His brain looked great. No signs of hydrocephalus ( even though Ty's was NOT congenital but is considered aquired.) and his heart and kidneys looked great and were working properly.

Oh and did we mention... it is STILL a boy!!! ( click if you REALLY need it larger!)

They measured everything and he is exactly were he should be. We are exactly 20 weeks 2 days and he measures 3 days but exactly where he should. He is about ten ounces right now. My placenta is on the inside of my uterus or posterior which is great for feeling the baby. Soon D should be able to feel him too! ( A first for him!)

He is a little camera shy when it comes to profile pictures. But the rest of him looks great. We have no soft markers for Downs syndrome. Everything was perfect.

Hitting the 20 week mark is half way. Exciting and scary at the same time. We have about 4 weeks until we hit uncharted territory for us. It is very scary. I am a nervous wreck and am so scared. We have one more appointment with the perinatologist in March and one more appointment with my OB. The perinatologist is hoping we will "graduate" to coming at 30 weeks and not have to go in during the scary period ( 25 weeks!) though I am happy to be graduating I am horrified at the same time. It would do much on my heart to see her through the scary time!

At 30 weeks we start weekly Non stress test and hope to make it to at least 35. So we are on our way. Time is flying by. Uncharted territory or not we are very excited for this baby.

* On a side note: Our perinatologist said that this week the Makena rep was in their office. I asked her if she punched him in the face and she said No but I should have! She said that the Perinatologist association along with the OB and pediatric association sent letters to the Makena people ( and the March of Dimes). She also said that she told him that if they didn't come down in price that she would continue to have us all use compounding pharmacies. If not after we get to a certain point she would suggest suppositories that cost a quarter a day! So she said that hopefully in a few months or weeks they would work out what to do. So high risk ladies... keep your head up!!*

Do you miss pictures?

Well so do I!! A few weeks ago I managed to TOTALLY and fully wipe off my entire hard-drive. Dallas had to reinstall EVERYTHING and then it totally crashed like 2 days later. I have just left it sitting on his desk after I pretty much crashed it and haven't even tried to log in. I have lost all of my photos. ALL OF THEM. I lost all the photos of other people to but I did manage to take off a bunch of peoples BEFORE that.

Any rate, I get to use the macbook of D's and it has NOTHING on it. No iphoto, no blogs, no nothing. It's like a fresh clean slate that I can make a mess of and ruin. But it also means I have no lightroom and no way to download photos without take my lazy bum downstairs. In turn I haven't really gotten my camera out and use my iphone a lot so D can get pictures of our adventures. No blog photos either. ( maybe if Nicky took some she would either post them on HER blog or send them to me.)

But since we are full of unicorns and glitter I will just have to make do with witty words and fancy pants blogging stories.

Here is the unicorns and glitter story for the night.

Ty says prayers a lot in this house. We have always had to help him. The last few weeks he hasn't needed much help. Today, was a no help prayer day.

The dinner prayer went like this.
t: dear hedenly fader fhank you for da day. Fhank you for the food. Fahnk you for handy manny big construction job. pwease bwess the food. To grow big and strong, bwess the tywer for making it and da mom-e. in da name of Sheeshs ( jesus) cwrist Amen.

The fixed version: Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for the day. Thank you for the food. Thank you for handy manny construction job. Please bless the food so we can grow big and strong. Bless Tyler for making it and the mommy. In the name of Jesus Christ AMEN.

Then the night time prayer.

T: dear Hedenly Fader. Fhank you for da day. Fhank you for Mickey Mouse. Fwank you for the dadd-e, fhwank you for the mom-e. fhank you for the baby. Pwease bwess the baby that it will grow big and strong. Pwease bwess the Tywer that he can cheach da baby how to pway soon. We ashk vees fwhings in the name of sheeshas Christ Amen.

The fixed version: Dear Heavenly Father. Thank you for the day. Thank you for Mickey Mouse. thank you for the daddy. Thank you for the mommy. Thank you for the baby. Please bless the baby that it will grow big and strong. Please bless the Tyler that he can TEACH the baby how to play soon. We ask these things in the name of Jesus Christ Amen.

A huge smile spread across his face cause he can do it all by himself. We kissed him and he told us goodnight and THANK GOODNESS we have heard not even a peep tonight.

Our adventures with Grandma and Grandpa will continue tomorrow.

The best thing ever

At the end of a long day, when whining and pulling and plain old crabby pants, what makes it all better? SWEET BIG BOYS SLEEPING. You know the kind you see when you stand at the door and wonder how you got so lucky. The times when you realize he is the most amazing thing that you have ever done. He is my miracle baby!

Today.. I stood there and watched! It made me smile.....

I'm a big boy ~

Lots of new things have been happening at the Brown household. We have been reluctant ( or I have been) to make some of the changes but we have made them and Ty has really rolled with the punches.

A few weeks ago while helping at customer service a lady brought in a crib that closely resembled the one that I have been putting my "precious cargo" into for 3 years. I FREAKED out and came home and looked and looked. Sure enough, Ty's crib has been recalled. I HATE his crib. I loved it for a long time but the crib rail comes off track. Even before we knew about the above mentioned recall we had decided it was time to move him into a toddler bed and get rid of the crib anyway. So at least my hatred can turn into a few hundred bucks.

Tuesday night we went and got Ty's toddler bed. We started putting it together and decided to wait till Wednesday. We got it all put together tonight and had Ty come in and take a look at his new big boy bed. He LOVED it. He got on it, laid down, babbled, and talked away. He turned around, jumped around and got down all on his own. We were then ready to take on the night ( or Dallas was since he is the night time parent.)

r

So far so good.. He is happy as could be and has not woken up. Guess we can get rid of the crib and just stick with a big boy bed! YAY! My baby is getting bigger.

Another big change is School. He is doing FABULOUS!! He is doing so well. He climbed up the bus steps today ALONE. He sat down and had NO TEARS! There was no crying. He is using the props during circle time just like the other kids. His teacher said that he is walking all over totally independent till they go outside. He pushes away her hand because he wants to do it all by himself. The only time he wants help is when he wants to get somewhere fast. He loves to sing the goodbye song and come home. He is doing well with his therapies there as well and he is loving his eye therapy. And ... he is wearing his glasses. I can't believe he is getting to where he doesn't cry.

We got a new respite worker and we are getting use to her. She comes is coming on a day that we have to keep Tyler awake after 2 really in depth physical therapies and he has school the next day. She has a rough job and she does it great.

We also are looking at his potty training. I set the timer for 30 minutes and for an hour and a half we went to the potty every half hour. While it was great for my kindergarten bladder he had no interest and cannot stay dry for the 2 hour time. He was fine with sitting on the potty and "wiping" but no "success." We will keep trying.

I think that is all... For now. He is doing great! Guess we will see what the next week will give us!
