Germies and more

Last week we mentioned that we had some bugs from preschool. Boy did they multiple. It has for sure caused a HUGE chaos in our house. When mom gets sick no one knows what to do. Including me!

D has had a WHOLE month of being sick and we were just getting everything back on track. He had one last test to finish at the hospital and then we would be all done! Tyler got sick and that didn't last horribly long. He seems to have bounced back pretty well. I am guessing that the bug wasn't exactly the same that we passed to each other.

On Saturday I felt fine. Saturday night I woke in the middle of the night with a scratchy throat. Sunday I felt really yucky and come Monday I wondered if I was sporting a strep throat. Ty was SUPER restless on Monday so we opted to have a pic pic ( Ty's word for Picnic!) and we headed to the park. It worked well for me because he plays so well on his own at the park.

As we sat at the park I realized just how rotten I REALLY felt. As Ty was walking across the drawbridge he fell and fell OFF and landed pretty hard. It was a good thump. I freaked and ran across the park and scooped him up. It was pretty scary. I thought for sure he landed on his head.

He was fine. But I wasn't. I felt HORRIBLE.

Tuesday was D's appointment and I sat with him throughout it. I was sitting there and realized we had scheduled Ty's birthday party on Saturday. We have been telling him that he was going to have a party in 2 Saturdays. Since I am not feeling well and the house needs a HUGE dejunking.

I went to bed feeling pretty horrible last night and woke up feeling even worse. Tyler got up around 4 am and I knew that I really needed to get moving. I tried to convince Tyler that he should go back to sleep but he told me his Tummy was hungry. When I told him it was still night he laid with me whispering " hungry, hungry." So we got up.

I tried super hard to be awake and feel all better but after about 2 hours I couldn't stay awake any more. It was a BAD night. D was nice enough to go down with Ty and let me sleep. I got up in time to get him dressed and then I headed back to bed. Sitting up makes my ears feel like they are plugged and underwater and me feel SUPER dizzy.

When Ty got home I decided to call the doc and get in. We took off and went to get checked. Sure enough the bug I have is a sinus infection and a ear infection. I feel horrible. At least the meds will kick in. I just hope they hurry and kick in my house gets cleaned.

Stay tuned for the party store!

In knots

I am the worst nervous mommy when it comes to sickness. I drive Dallas insane but I can't help but feel total panic.

On Saturday Ty did the early 3 am wake up. I couldn't shake the idea that he was not feeling well but he acted fine and asked for food around 5. I went downstairs and got him food and Dallas came down to take over and sent me back to bed. I was so thankful. I had a photo session in Salt Lake so I wanted to feel rested and I had to work at 6:30 pm so rest was really appreciated. I wasn't feeling well. Nauseous. I chalked it up to nerves but it felt like morning sickness. I am not pregnant so I KNOW it was something else.

I headed to the photo session ( now feeling bad cause I am almost sure it is a bug) ate some crackers and was feeling tired but OK. I got home, Nicky was watching Ty and he had fallen asleep. She said he was acting fine. Ate a ton of toaster struddles and fell fast asleep.

He was not interested in lunch but I offered to take him to the park. At the park a small little fall threw him into tears. So we came home where he laid on the floor crying and whining. I felt so bad for him. And then I noticed the fever.

My dad and mom stopped by and Dallas and my dad gave him a blessing. I noticed some gagging and knew that we were gonna have throw up. Through out the evening I started throwing up to but wasn't sure if it was from nerves or from a bug. Ty had a pretty rough night. He had a fever through out the night. Acted much better off and on through out the day. However tonight we are back sick. He took some motrin with LOTS of coaxing and holding and some night meds which we hope will make him and mom feel better. I am not far behind!

So why the nervous mom-

We have a shunt. One that tends to break. One that has broken every six months. Shunts and stomach bugs have the same symptoms. How do you know what is what?

As Dallas and I have been frantically googling trying to ease our mind and we find OUR own blogs but nothing else that will put our mind at ease. NOTHING. I call the on call at our peds and she doesn't think it warrants a trip to PCMC right now. He only threw up once today and it was not " impressive" vomiting. Like massive HUGE amounts that are violent VIOLENT. So we wait.

The fact that I still worry about losing my child 4 years after the initial events of his rough start makes me mad. I hate how I still have thoughts of watching him get sicker and sicker. Feeling helpless as I watch him die. He is alive yet I still think of those times.

When he is sick both of us have anxiety. Both of us watch him closely. I hate how it all plays out. Every cry and whimper at night has me on edge, every time I can't hear him breathe I freak out. I have to know he is OK.

I can't bear to think of the alternative. No matter what I feel regarding any given situation he has changed my world. As sucky as the weeks are or the therapy after therapy he is mine. And thinking a shunt breaking puts him at risk makes me so sick.

I am in Knots and along with me not feeling well either, knots are not fun!

I know he will be fine whatever we need to do. But I still can't help but worry.

Can we say APPOINTMENTS!

What a week! We are still recuperating from the sickies this week and man let me tell ya! I almost didn't survive yesterday or Tuesday.

Yesterday was the first day that Ty did NOT get a nap. Oh my heavens. BAD idea! But by the end of the day not only was I sad that Ty didn't get a nap I was sad Dallas didn't get a nap. I was so over this sickness that I decided to just get up and call for a doc appointment for Dallas today and I didn't even get an argument when I sent the message to him with the date and time ( and NO I didn't tell him I sent it IM!) He is sick sick and having a sick husband and having a sick kid is no fun for mom. Plus mom isn't feeling so hot so we need a DAY OFF!!

Dallas has a sinus infection, Ty still has some goobers but seems MUCH better today and I just have a nasty cough... but man... CAN IT GO AWAY!

While I was getting Dallas appointment I decided to be ambitious and stop putting off the inevitable and make all our appointments for Tyler. Not kidding it was a TASK.

First up was calling the insurance company to figure out just what exactly we have coverage on, where, when and how.

The bonus in the situation is our insurance coverage is costly but amazing. We can get every specialist we had before ( minus our eye doc) and botox. Though it took some laughing at the insurance girl to get her to get it is not cosmetic ( haha!)

They have patient advocates that would call and get us appointments but they always take first available. Sometimes that is do able and some times I am not getting up at 8 to sit in clinic B. Clinic B is a disaster as it is... so I would prefer right after lunch.

Ty has an appointment with Dr. Walker ( neurosurgery) Shriners and that is 2 appointments plus orthotics so we will be there ALLLLLLL afternoon. We will see Dr. Gooch there and then we will see Dr. Gooch in her office ( sort of) Dr. Gooch does botox and rehab stuff. We will see Dr. Peterson for eyes and I am not sure about him. I have yet to hear anything and will have to see what Dr. Nagle has to say. We see a neurologist and our Pediatrician. All of these are spanning a month!

We are getting Speech set up and will be starting around the 13th of October. It should be on Monday sometime and will be a lot of work on mine and Dallas part but we need it. So sacrifice it is.

It is nice to feel a little more settled. Now I just need a part time job that I can help with our massive cobra payments.
