Cancer

We Love Daphne!

September is National Childhood Cancer awareness month.(Not to alarm any readers, Tyler does NOT have cancer.) On May 5th 2010 Tyler's (2nd) cousin was diagnosed with ALL Leukemia. She is 3. After a small out patient procedure Daphne fainted and after further tests was diagnosed with leukemia and transferred to PCMC and more test.

She started Chemotherapy and has had 2 small stays in the hospital. She goes up for weekly treatments and so far has done very well. She has a sassy personality and pretty Blonde curly hair. She has not lost her hair yet due to the treatments.

I was able to take photos a few months ago and I was thankful Chelsie let me do it. It was a great experience.

Some random facts about Cancer:
  • 1 in 4 American children will be diagnosed with cancer
  • Over 12,500 kids under 15 will be diagnosed this year.
  • 70-80 percent of these children go into remission and live for at least 5 more years.
Cancer is one that doesn't discriminate. It doesn't care if you are black or white, blue or green. It doesn't care if you are rich or poor. It leaves behind years of treatment, pokes and doctors.

We are thankful that Daphne is doing so well. We hope some day that no one else has to go through what she has. Stay tuned for my "Awareness" and to follow their Journey head on over to The Daily Daph!
