I heart faces #3

This week over at I heart Faces is the creative crop. I couldn't find some of the originals of the newborn shoot I did because that had some creative ways of getting things to work. I guess you live and learn. Instead I thought I would enter a picture of my in laws I took this summer.

Original:

Here is the edited and crop. I have actually done more than one edit of this particular picture. I have learned a little more and don't like it quite as dark etc. So this is what I came up with.

Edited:

Help me be better? Leave a comment!! And head on over and see all the faces! (ps please click on the photo's to see them fully. I can't quite get it right despite the amazing tutorial last week.. BLAH)

I like the new crop much better. And your processing looks very good! As for cc, two things but both so little. I would try to clone out that yellow pole thing in the background (to the left a little bit) if you can and just personal preference, I would crop it a tiny bit more to the left so that she is a bit less centered. But that's just my personal preference. I think the photo looks great! Nice job!

This is the first time I've seen someone "de-angle" a picture, and I must say it was a great choice. The first was a little too much, but the cropped and edited version is just right!! Great job!

I agree that the straight crop is a better choice for this photo. Personally I think that the angled crop is far too overused; it should enhance the photo, not be used just because, IMHO.

I had a photography teacher (actually my one and only teacher) who gave me the best advice, he told me to get away from centering everything, and it improved my photographs so much, just that one little thing.

I think you would have really benefited from some fill light in this picture; if you can fake it in post process, great, but it's easier if you snag it the first time by using your flash (even just the on camera flash) dialed down to give you just enough to fill in the shadows under eyebrows etc.

I like the saturation, just be careful that you don't over saturate skin tones. What are you using to post process? If you are using Lightroom I could give you some tips.

Great photo!
