Hi, my name is Shayla and I was born 13 weeks early in 1989.
I had retinopathy of prematurity the same degree as your son. I became the 1st. premature baby in Alaska to have ''experimental'' chryotherapy on my eyes to save my sight. It was a success!
Today, I am a fully sighted 23 years old, happy and healthy and working on gaining a driver's license.
I praise God that he gave me my sight, because my sight is my life. I also wrote a book called Shayla~My Story to help raise ROP AWARENESS! Please feel free to check it out to learn how I beat ROP blindness, about my eye doctor (Dr. Arnold) and other kids eye disorders.
