As of February 1st 2012 Tyler is doing ok. We are working through some difficult changes in behavior with him. He is having meltdowns and really struggling with anxiety. He attends kindergarten at Snow Springs where he is in a smaller/transitional kindergarten. There are 9 kids in his class. Academically he is testing at a 94 in reading for kindergarten children but cannot do any of the occupational skills like writing his name. He will be learning to use an adaptive device. We have chosen to have an Ipad go with him to school where he will be able to use and start to function and do all his paper and writing work on it. He also gets private therapy through Orem pediatrics at least once a week. We see and OT,PT and a speech person there. They are more difficult to get in so we see someone once a week.
In December Tyler suffered from a very long and scary and serious seizure. After which we have been diagnosed with a seizure disorder. It was then that we were put on Keppra. Since the start of keppra we have had a different child. At first he just ate a lot! Since we have had the child that is full of meltdowns and can't help but be overwhelmed in situations that weren't that way before. We will be doing a lot of changing things around in order to get our sweet innocent and not aggressive child back.
Tyler was also invited to become a wish child with make a wish. We do not have all the information, dates, and times but we do know it will include a boat, Mickey Mouse and we need passports. Pretty sure that also means a BEACH! More to come when we know more.
We are working on where to place Tyler for school next year. He has tested to high for all the learning disability classes and he is on his way to main stream school! Vision and the training he will need for that and his occupational needs require that he have a personal aide. We will see how things shape up for that.
Feel free to contact us at any time. We love to talk about Tyler. Even with his mood changes we do still see the sweet loving big brother come around. He is a very good kid and we are very lucky to have him.
As of March 2010 Tyler is doing very well.

He attends Preschool 4 days a week for 4 hours. He gets Physical therapy, Occupational Therapy, Vision therapy and adaptive P.E. and Speech.
He also gets private therapy at Shriner's hospital for Children in Salt Lake City. All services there are paid for by donations. We LOVE them a lot.
Tyler's conditions include Cerebral Palsy ( from grade 3 and 4 brain bleeds he had shortly after birth), Craniosynostosis ( saggital and corrected 2 times), PDA heart murmur, ROP or retinopathy of prematurity grade 3 zone 1( the worst of the worst!), hydrocephalus ( last revision was Feb. 2009, revisions x4), non-verbal and developmentally delayed.
Tyler does walk and he does participate in "regular" situations but does not have any words. He has shown that he is able to follow directions but for some reason we are not getting anything to click.
